The Marshall Home Fund (MHF) is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual program grant awards to benefit Watertown residents ages 55 and over. This spring, MHF will have disseminated a half million dollars in program and individual grants to agencies and organizations that serve older adults in the community.
Please join MHF in celebration of this new and exciting milestone—the Program Grant Awards Ceremony is Thursday, May 19 – 3:30 pm @ the Watertown Public Library during which MHF will award nearly $60k to the following organizations:
- Arsenal Center for the Arts: The Open Door Project will encourage a variety of art activities for older adults, including an allotment of concert tickets for the Senior Center and a new intergenerational partnership with the Watertown Children’s Theatre.
- Care Dimensions: Complementary Therapies for Watertown Hospice Patients will provide aromatherapy, art and music therapy, massage, and Reiki to improve the well-being of Watertown residents who are receiving hospice care.
- MetroWest Collaborative Development: The Ready Renter Program provides information and referrals to Watertown residents who are seeking affordable housing.
- New Rep Theater: Older adults will delve deeply into the world of the play through Page to Stage and learn about all aspects of theatrical production.
- Perkins School for the Blind: Thriving with Vision Loss provides older adults in Watertown access to the resources of the Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library to build self-confidence and provide socialization opportunities.
- Project Literacy: This program provides English Language instruction, support, and socialization for older adults.
- Springwell: The Elder Independence & Little Necessities Fund will provide emergency assistance grants to Watertown residents, who are receiving Springwell services, improving their quality of life and helping them maintain their independence.
- Watertown Council on Aging/Senior Center: The Supplemental Transportation Program covers emergency transportation of hundreds of low-income Watertown seniors each year.
- Watertown Family Network: This grant will support WFN’s wonderful intergenerational music programming at Brigham House, Watertown Housing, and other locations. It will also benefit the senior knitting group that provides blankets and hats to welcome our newest residents to the community.
- Watertown Health Department: Compassionate Connections VI provides continued funding to address the problem of hoarding through a supportive case management model.
- Watertown Public Schools: Grandparents and Friends Garden Days is a new program that will engage older adult residents in the school gardens at Cunniff, Hosmer, and Lowell Schools. The collaboration will culminate in a “Photovoice” exhibit at Watertown Public Library.
- Watertown Prosperity: Watertown Middle School students will be matched with their older adult neighbors who are in need of snow shoveling services; this grant covers supplies and gifts cards for the student volunteers.
- Windsor House: Windsor House Adult Day Health Services Scholarship Fund provides services for at risk elders with low incomes and respite for their families.
